Job Description:
Full job descriptionOrka Financial is recruiting a Financial Accounting Manager for an established organisation in Bracknell. This is a broad leadership role combining technical accounting, financial control and the day-to-day management of a small team.
Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will take ownership of accurate financial reporting and help strengthen the processes that sit behind it. The position covers year-end accounts and audit, balance sheet control, payables, payroll and treasury, with scope to improve systems and working practices across the function.
Key responsibilities
• Lead the production of statutory accounts and coordinate internal and external audit activity.
• Own the balance sheet reconciliation process and ensure month-end issues are resolved promptly.
• Review and improve financial controls, documenting clearer and more efficient processes.
• Oversee UK and international compliance across tax, payroll and related statutory submissions.
• Manage the payables function and support a consistent, well-controlled procure-to-pay process.
• Monitor cash, banking and investment activity to support accurate cash-flow reporting.
• Coach and manage the financial accounting team, setting clear objectives and service standards.
About you
You will be part-qualified or studying towards CIMA, ACA, ACCA or an equivalent qualification, with hands-on experience preparing statutory accounts. You will also bring previous team-management experience, strong Excel capability and the confidence to work with senior stakeholders and auditors. Experience in a not-for-profit environment or with UK and international payroll would be useful, but is not essential.
Package and working pattern
The salary is £48,000–£52,000 for a 36-hour week. The role offers flexible hybrid working, with a minimum expectation of one day each week in the Bracknell office, normally Thursday.
Benefits include 25 days’ holiday, your birthday off, a Christmas closure, an 8% employer pension contribution, private medical insurance, a health cash plan, life assurance at four times salary, an additional long-service day and learning and development opportunities.
