Job Description:
Full job description Goodman Masson is supporting an ambitious FinTech business focused on sustainable investing to recruit a Senior Finance Manager on a part-time basis (three days a week). This is an opportunity to join a growing business in a dynamic sector, taking ownership of the finance function while working closely with the CEO and having a direct influence on the business’s financial direction.
Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a broad, hands-on role offering ownership of the finance function, direct exposure to the Board and the flexibility of three days per week, with scope to structure the working days around individual preferences. You’ll combine responsibility for the day-to-day running of Finance with budgeting, commercial reporting and financial planning, while having the opportunity to improve systems and processes as the business develops.
Responsibilities will include:
• Managing the month-end close and producing monthly management accounts, variance analysis and financial reporting for the Board;
• Overseeing payroll, pensions, accounts payable, credit control and the associated financial controls;
• Managing subscription revenue recognition and deferred income, ensuring revenue is accurately reported;
• Leading the annual budgeting process and maintaining the financial plan, providing analysis to support commercial decisions;
• Coordinating statutory accounts, year-end audit, corporation tax, VAT and other compliance requirements;
• Overseeing the administration of the employee share option scheme, working with external legal and tax advisers where required;
• Supporting commission calculations and remuneration reviews, alongside managing insurance renewals;
• Reviewing existing processes and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency through automation and better use of technology.
Key requirements:
• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, with at least 5 years’ post-qualified UK finance experience;
• Previous hands-on experience in a start-up or SME, with the ability to manage a broad finance remit independently;
• Proven experience managing the month-end close and producing management accounts;
• Practical knowledge of UK payroll, pensions, PAYE, VAT and corporation tax, alongside experience coordinating year-end audit and statutory accounts under FRS 102;
• Commercial awareness, initiative and the confidence to work directly with senior stakeholders, challenge existing processes and implement improvements with minimal guidance.
