Full job descriptionJunior Sales Agent – Metering
Location: Chester (Office Based)
Salary: £24,000 per annum, with increases as skills and experience develop
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm
The Opportunity
Southam Selections are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Junior Sales Agent to join a growing team within the metering sector. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone looking to build a career in sales, account management and customer relationships.
Initially, you will provide administrative and sales support to an established team member, helping to keep the sales process running smoothly. As your knowledge and confidence grow, you will be trained across the full sales cycle, with the long-term opportunity to progress into a Metering Account Manager role.
They are looking for someone who is keen to learn, happy to roll up their sleeves and isn’t afraid to pick up the phone to get things done. You don’t need extensive sales experience – the right attitude, communication skills and willingness to learn are what matter most.
Key Responsibilities
*Providing day-to-day administrative and sales support to the existing team.
*Making outbound calls and sending emails to obtain missing information and follow up outstanding queries.
*Liaise with customers and contacts to ensure information is accurate and up to date.
*Supporting the sales process by tracking enquiries, following up on actions and keeping records organised.
*Building an understanding of the company’s metering products, services and processes.
*Developing confidence in customer communication, sales conversations and relationship building.
*Gradually taking on more responsibility for managing sales enquiries and progressing opportunities.
*Learning the full sales process, from initial contact through to completion.
*Working towards managing customer accounts independently as a Metering Account Manager.
About You
*Enthusiastic, motivated and eager to develop a career in sales.
*Confident speaking to people over the phone and communicating professionally by email.
*Proactive and comfortable chasing information and following up outstanding tasks.
*Organised, reliable and able to manage their workload effectively.
*A hands-on individual who takes initiative and gets stuck in.
*Willing to learn, take feedback on board and develop new skills.
*Comfortable working in an office-based environment as part of a team.
Previous sales experience is not essential. Experience in administration, customer service, telesales or a similar role would be beneficial, but attitude and potential are the priority.
Training and Career Progression
This role offers a clear development pathway for someone who wants to build a long-term career.
Stage 1; Sales Support: Learn the administrative side of the business, follow up missing information and support the existing sales team.
Stage 2; Junior Sales Agent: Develop an understanding of the full sales process, handle customer enquiries and become more involved in sales activity.
Stage 3; Metering Account Manager: Build on your experience to manage customer relationships, sales opportunities and accounts more independently.
Salary progression will be considered as your skills, experience and responsibilities increase.
