Job Description:
Full job descriptionTechnical Lead / Engineering Manager
Lancashire | Office-based | £65,000 – £75,000 | Full-time, reporting to the CTO
The Company
Our client is an established UK B2B SaaS business. Its cloud-based platform is relied on daily by hundreds of public and private sector organisations. Customers depend on the platform being available around the clock, so reliability, security and quality sit at the heart of everything the business does. It holds a range of recognised security and quality accreditations and is in a period of steady growth.
The Role
As Engineering Manager, you’ll take day-to-day ownership of the technology function and act as the CTO’s deputy. You’ll lead multi-disciplinary teams across software, mobile, QA and infrastructure, and you’ll own both building the platform and running it. That covers delivering the product roadmap from backlog to release, raising engineering standards, managing incidents and keeping the cloud estate secure and resilient. It’s a hands-on leadership role, and its scope will grow as the business does.
Essential Skills
*Strong software engineering background, with several years leading development teams
*Proven people management: hiring, developing and managing performance
*Experience delivering and supporting production SaaS in a high-availability or regulated environment
*Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Azure and cloud operations
*Agile delivery, CI/CD and automated testing experience
*Exposure to a modern stack spanning web, mobile, relational databases and containers
*GitHub-based workflows, including pull requests, code review and automation
*Clear communicator with both engineers and non-technical stakeholders
*Calm under pressure, pragmatic and commercially aware
The Benefits
This is a chance to shape the engineering function of a growing business at a point where the role can genuinely make its mark. You’ll work closely with the CTO and have real influence over how the technology is built and run.
*20 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
*Extra day off for your birthday
*Additional leave that grows with length of service
*Company pension scheme
*Technology salary sacrifice scheme
