Full job descriptionGlobal Gaming Content Organisation seeks an Interim Financial Controller to join the business on a temporary contract. The Financial Controller will play a key role in the financial controllership of the business with primary responsibility for its European operations and close collaboration with Finance teams supporting the wider global business.
The Financial Controller is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining a strong financial control environment, overseeing statutory and tax compliance, and ensuring the integrity of the balance sheet across the entities within scope.
The role will work closely with Finance, Tax, Treasury, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Commercial Finance and other business stakeholders while supporting the continued development and standardisation of finance processes.
Duties of the Financial Controller include:
*Own and lead the monthly close process for the entities within the role’s scope, with particular focus on the UK and European operations.
*Review entity trial balances, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, intercompany balances, transfer pricing entries and month-end reporting.
*Maintain strong balance sheet control and ensure reconciling items are understood, supported and resolved on a timely basis.
*Perform analytical review of the P&L and balance sheet, providing clear explanations of material movements and unusual items.
*Ensure intercompany transactions and balances are appropriately recorded, reconciled and resolved.
*Maintain a high standard of financial reporting and financial analysis for local and corporate stakeholders.
*Oversee accounting for payroll and employee-related costs, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
*Review cash flow requirements and support effective cash and liquidity management.
*Provide appropriate oversight of purchase ledger and payment activities while working with the global Accounts Payable organisation.
*Maintain and continuously improve financial controls, accounting processes and supporting documentation.
*Support Finance transformation initiatives, system implementations and process standardisation.
*Provide support and accounting oversight for entity rationalisation, restructuring or other changes to the legal-entity structure where required.
*Coordinate year-end statutory reporting and external audits.
*Ensure local statutory financial statements are prepared accurately and on time in accordance with the relevant local accounting requirements.
*Coordinate with internal Tax and external advisors to support corporation tax and other direct-tax compliance requirements.
*Review VAT and other indirect-tax returns and ensure appropriate supporting reconciliations are maintained.
*Support UK employment-tax requirements including PAYE Settlement Agreements and P11D reporting where applicable.
Requirements for the Financial Controller include:
*Qualified accountant, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
*Exposure to Gaming or Tech environment
*Significant post-qualified experience in financial accounting, controllership or a similar role within a multinational organisation.
*Strong experience managing month-end close and balance sheet control across multiple legal entities.
*Experience working with international subsidiaries, intercompany accounting and transfer pricing.
*Strong technical accounting, statutory reporting and reconciliation skills.
*Experience coordinating external audits and working with professional-services providers.
*Good understanding of VAT, corporation tax and general statutory compliance requirements.
*Strong Excel skills and experience working with an ERP environment; Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience would be advantageous.
*Comfortable working across multiple countries and with global stakeholders.
*Able to communicate complex accounting matters clearly to both Finance and non-Finance stakeholders.
