We’re particularly interested in speaking with candidates who are local to the area, passionate about food manufacturing, and keen to become a long-term part of a collaborative technical team.
The Role
You will play a key role in ensuring customer specifications, technical documentation, and supplier approvals are managed accurately and in line with customer requirements and current UK and EU food legislation. Working closely with Quality, NPD, Operations, and suppliers, you’ll help maintain the highest standards of food safety, compliance, and product integrity.
Key Responsibilities
*Create, review, and maintain customer and retailer product specifications.
*Ensure specifications comply with UK and EU food legislation and customer requirements.
*Manage raw material approval processes and supplier documentation.
*Support NPD projects through specification set-up and technical guidance.
*Complete nutritional calculations and maintain accurate allergen, ingredient, and nutritional data.
*Maintain recipes, technical records, and product information databases.
*Conduct internal audits and support compliance activities.
*Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to resolve technical queries.
*Support food safety, quality, and compliance initiatives across the business.
*Assist with HACCP reviews, risk assessments, and technical investigations.
About You
We’re open-minded on background and experience level, but you’ll ideally have:
*Experience within food manufacturing, ingredients, or FMCG.
*Previous experience in Specifications, Technical, QA, or Quality Assurance roles.
*Knowledge of specification systems and technical documentation.
*Experience supporting supplier approval and compliance processes.
*A solid understanding of HACCP, GMP, and BRCGS standards.
*Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
Qualifications
*Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Food & Nutrition, or a related discipline.
*HACCP qualification.
*Food Safety qualification desirable.
Desirable
*Experience working with major retailer specifications.
*Knowledge of nutritional calculations and food labelling.
*Experience supporting NPD projects from concept through launch.
*Familiarity with shelf-life testing, microbiology, or laboratory environments.
Why Apply?
*Genuine salary flexibility for the right candidate.
*Opportunity to develop into a broader or more senior technical role.
*Join a growing and supportive food manufacturing business.
*Work across Specifications, Technical, Quality, and NPD functions.
*Make a visible impact on product quality, compliance, and business growth.
