Full job descriptionSenior Private Client Solicitor
Chelmsford | Full Time
Excellent salary and benefits package.
You’ve built your expertise. Now bring it to a firm where you can make an impact.
We’re looking for a Private Client Solicitor with at least five years’ post-qualification experience who is feeling like it’s time to move to practice who genuinely appreciate the commitment of their team.
You’ll join a growing firm where development is supported throughout the business, from the founder to the colleagues you’ll work alongside every day. This opportunity will suit a times served solicitor who enjoys taking ownership, building lasting client relationships and sharing their knowledge.
The firm advises a broad range of clients, from individuals and sole traders to multinational businesses, public sector bodies, charities and voluntary organisations. Much of its work comes through personal recommendations, reflecting the trust clients place in the team and the service they receive.
The work
You’ll independently manage a varied private client caseload covering Wills, Probate, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection matters, including cases requiring more detailed advice and sensitive handling.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Providing clear, practical advice on complex personal and family circumstances.
* Taking ownership of matters from initial instruction through to completion.
* Preparing and reviewing legal documents, maintaining accurate files and meeting professional and regulatory requirements.
* Building trusted relationships with clients through face-to-face and remote appointments.
* Sharing your expertise and supporting less experienced colleagues.
* Contributing to team objectives and the department’s growth through referrals, professional relationships and networking.
What you’ll bring
You’ll be a qualified Solicitor ideally with five years’ PQE in private client work, strong technical knowledge and the confidence to manage your caseload independently.
You’ll have experience handling complex matters, balancing competing priorities and delivering a consistently high standard of client care. You should be comfortable explaining legal issues in plain English and guiding clients through sensitive decisions with patience and sound judgement.
Alongside your legal expertise, you’ll bring a collaborative approach and an interest in helping the team develop its skills and client relationships.
The benefits
A very generous holiday allowance with service-related increases and a Christmas shutdown included within annual leave, discounted parking, plus a health cash plan following probation, workplace pension and ongoing training and personal development.
You’ll also benefit from regular one-to-one meetings, annual salary reviews and organised team events throughout the year.
Working hours: Monday–Friday, 9am–5.30pm.
