Location: Across Tootal Building, Manchester & Swinton HQ
Hybrid Working: Minimum 2 days per week in the office, including Tuesdays at HQ
Contract: 12 Month Contract
Pay Rate: £25.51 per hour
This is an exciting time to join the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA). With a new Mayor, strong links to central government, and an ambitious agenda for change, you’ll have the opportunity to play a key role in supporting the people agenda across one of the UK’s most influential public sector organisations.
We’re looking for an experienced Employee Relations professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can quickly become a trusted partner to managers and stakeholders. You’ll join a highly skilled team of seven ER Business Partners and three Advisors.
About the Role
While you’ll manage a varied and complex caseload, you’ll also work strategically with managers and leaders to influence culture, drive change, modernise policies, and improve organisational effectiveness.
Key areas of focus include:
*Managing complex employee relations casework and providing expert advice on employment law and best practice.
*Partnering with managers and senior stakeholders to resolve people challenges and support organisational objectives.
*Supporting organisational change initiatives, restructures and transformation programmes.
*Reviewing and updating workforce policies in line with changing employment legislation.
*Coaching and developing managers to build confidence in handling people matters.
*Building constructive relationships with trade unions, representative bodies and internal stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For
*Significant experience in Employee Relations, HR Business Partnering, or a similar people-focused role.
*A strong track record of handling complex ER casework independently.
*Up-to-date employment law knowledge and the ability to provide pragmatic, risk-based advice.
*Experience building effective relationships with stakeholders at a range of levels, ideally including senior leaders.
*Strong analytical skills and confidence using data to support recommendations and decisions.
*Experience supporting organisational change, policy development, consultation activity or transformation projects.
*Excellent communication, influencing and coaching skills.
You may already be operating as an HR or ER Business Partner, or you could be an experienced HR Advisor who has been exposed to partnering activity and is ready to take the next step. If you can demonstrate strong stakeholder management, complex casework experience, and a genuine passion for Employee Relations, we’d love to hear from you.
