Full job descriptionAs a multiskilled engineer , you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of production machinery and site services within a food manufacturing environment. The role focuses on minimizing downtime, maintaining food safety standards, and supporting production targets.

Description
*Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production and packaging equipment
*Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and perform effective fault diagnosis and repair
*Ensure all machinery operates in line with food safety and hygiene standards (e.g., HACCP)
*Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency
*Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete all documentation
*Work closely with production teams to minimize downtime and optimize performance
*Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations at all times
*Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment
*Monitor and maintain utilities (e.g., steam, refrigeration, compressed air systems)
*Identify root causes of recurring faults and implement corrective actions
4 on 4 off shift pattern, 2 x 5:00am to 17.00pm then 2 x 17:00pm to 05:00am, 4 days off
Profile
*Proven experience as a maintenance or shift engineer in a food manufacturing or FMCG environment
*Strong electrical and/or mechanical engineering skills
*Experience with PLC fault finding (desirable)
*Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
*Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced production environment
*Relevant engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND, or equivalent)
* Electrical certification (e.g., 18th Edition) - desirable
