Full job descriptionAbout Us
The Fisher family has had a presence in Watford since 1877. Historically, family members were involved in the meat trade. Today, the family is primarily involved with property.
About the Role
We are looking for a practical, reliable and hardworking Property Maintenance Operative to join our team.
As a small, family-run property management business, we value people who are approachable, flexible and willing to get stuck in. The successful candidate will be someone who uses their initiative, works efficiently and can get on with tasks independently whilst knowing when to ask for advice or support.
We are more interested in finding the right person with a good attitude, a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn than someone who necessarily has every skill already.
Key Responsibilities
*Carry out day-to-day maintenance and repair work across residential and commercial properties.
*Complete a variety of general maintenance tasks, including minor plumbing, carpentry, decorating and general repairs.
*Identify maintenance issues and take a proactive approach to resolve them.
*Conduct routine property inspections
*Liaise professionally with tenants, contractors, suppliers and colleagues.
*Ensure properties are maintained to a safe and presentable standard.
*Respond promptly and efficiently to maintenance requests.
*Keep accurate records of work completed, materials used and any follow-up actions required.
*Report hazards, defects and health and safety concerns promptly.
*Treat all properties with care, respect and professionalism.
Essential Requirements
The successful candidate will:
*Have practical experience in general property maintenance and repair work.
*Have a good understanding of workplace health and safety practices.
*Hold a full UK driving licence.
*Be physically capable of carrying out the demands of the role, including lifting and carrying equipment, climbing ladders and working both indoors and outdoors.
*Be able to carry out work efficiently whilst maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
*Use initiative, solve problems proactively and work independently when required.
*Be reliable, punctual and take responsibility for completing tasks.
*Have a positive attitude, a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.
*Communicate professionally with colleagues, tenants and contractors.
*Work well as part of a small team and be willing to help wherever needed.
*Take pride in their work and demonstrate honesty, integrity and professionalism when working in occupied properties.
About You
You are practical, dependable and take pride in doing a job well. You enjoy solving problems, can work independently when required and are happy to roll up your sleeves and help wherever needed. You are professional in your approach, respectful of other people’s homes and committed to delivering work to a high standard.
