Job Description:
Full job descriptionWe are recruiting for an experienced Project Engineer to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically biased engineer who enjoys taking ownership of technical projects, working closely with manufacturing teams, and seeing projects through from initial concept to completion. Our client offers the opportunity to join an established engineering business, working on varied and technically interesting projects involving specialist machinery and manufacturing equipment. You will have the opportunity to make a genuine impact, taking ownership of projects while working alongside an experienced engineering and production team.
The successful candidate will have a strong mechanical engineering background, ideally gained within a precision engineering, fabrication, welding or machinery manufacturing environment. You will be comfortable managing multiple projects, solving technical challenges and working hands-on with production and design teams to ensure projects are delivered successfully.
Project Engineer - Key Responsibilities - Fabrication, Welding, Machining, Precision Engineering, Mechanical Design:
*Manage engineering projects from initial concept and design through to manufacture, installation and completion.
*Work closely with shop-floor teams, design engineers and other departments to ensure projects progress efficiently.
*Provide technical support throughout the manufacturing process, resolving engineering and production challenges.
*Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and 3D CAD models.
*Coordinate project activities, ensuring delivery against agreed timescales, budgets and quality standards.
*Support the development and manufacture of bespoke machinery, equipment and engineered products.
*Liaise with suppliers, customers and internal stakeholders to ensure project requirements are understood and achieved.
*Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes, product design and overall project delivery.
Project Engineer - Skills & Experience Required - Fabrication, Welding, Machining, Precision Engineering, Mechanical Design:
*A strong mechanical engineering background, ideally supported by a relevant engineering qualification.
*Previous experience in a Project Engineer, Mechanical Engineer or similar technical project-focused role.
*Experience within fabrication, welding, machining or precision engineering environments.
*Good working knowledge of 3D CAD software, with the ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings.
*Experience working within a technical manufacturing environment, ideally involving high-value capital equipment or bespoke machinery.
*A practical understanding of mechanical design, manufacturing processes and engineering principles.
*Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
*Confidence working directly with shop-floor personnel, design engineers and other technical specialists.
*A proactive, hands-on approach, with the ability to take responsibility for projects and drive them forward.
Project Engineer - The Ideal Candidate - Fabrication, Welding, Machining, Precision Engineering, Mechanical Design:
We are particularly interested in speaking with mechanically biased engineers who have developed their careers in technical manufacturing environments and are looking for a role offering greater project ownership. You may currently be working as a Project Engineer, Mechanical Design Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer or Mechanical Engineer and be looking for an opportunity to combine your technical expertise with broader project responsibilities. This position would suit someone who enjoys being involved in the practical side of engineering rather than working solely in a design or office-based capacity.
