Job Description:
Full job descriptionAre you an experienced Finance Manager who enjoys combining hands-on accounting with improving financial processes? Do you thrive in smaller, fast-paced organisations where flexibility and adaptability are essential? Are you available immediately and looking for an opportunity to help establish a growing charity’s finance function?
A newly established charity is urgently seeking an Interim Finance Manager to join its team on an initial 6-month contract. This role offers hybrid working, with regular office attendance required in North London.
This is a broad, hands-on position within a start-up environment, where the successful candidate will take ownership of day-to-day financial operations while helping to establish effective processes, controls and ways of working.
The key responsibilities of the Interim Finance Manager are:
*Taking ownership of day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions.

*Managing accounts payable, including supplier invoices, expenses and payment runs.

*Completing bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate accounting records.

*Leading month-end processes, including journals, reconciliations and the preparation of management accounts.

*Monitoring cash flow and supporting the development of financial forecasts and budgets.

*Establishing and improving financial processes, controls and accounting procedures appropriate for a growing organisation.

*Ensuring financial commitments and payments are managed effectively and within agreed deadlines.

*Liaising with external accountants, payroll providers and other stakeholders as required.

*Working closely with senior finance leadership to implement practical improvements and ensure the finance function operates effectively.

The successful candidate will have:
*Significant experience operating as a Finance Manager or in a similarly broad, hands-on accounting role.

*Strong technical accounting knowledge, including bookkeeping, reconciliations, management accounts and cash-flow management.

*Recent hands-on experience using QuickBooks would be highly advantageous.

*Experience establishing or improving financial processes and controls.

*Previous charity or not-for-profit sector experience would be highly desirable.

*A flexible, adaptable approach and the willingness to undertake both transactional and management accounting responsibilities.

*The confidence to work independently, take ownership of tasks and deliver with minimal supervision.

*Experience working within a start-up, small organisation or developing finance function would be advantageous.

*Availability to start immediately or at very short notice.

This is an urgent opportunity for a versatile finance professional who enjoys being hands-on and can quickly bring structure, accuracy and consistency to a developing finance function. Candidates who are immediately available are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
