About the Opportunity
We are partnering with a well-established, growing organisation that operates across multiple locations both in the UK and internationally. As part of their continued expansion, they are looking to appoint an experienced Payroll Manager to take ownership of a complex, multi-country payroll function.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a payroll professional who enjoys working autonomously, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and wants to play a key role in ensuring payroll accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement across the business.
Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you will oversee payroll operations for approximately 520 employees across the UK and overseas. This is a hands-on position offering real variety, exposure to international payrolls, and the opportunity to contribute to future systems and process enhancements.
The Role
As Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of multiple payrolls, ensuring employees are paid accurately, compliantly, and on time.
Key responsibilities will include:
*Managing the monthly UK payroll process from start to finish.
*Working closely with HR and department managers to ensure all payroll inputs are accurate and approved.
*Administering statutory payments, pension contributions, employee deductions, salary sacrifice schemes and holiday pay calculations.
*Ensuring compliance with all payroll legislation, including PAYE, RTI submissions, pensions auto-enrolment, and National Minimum Wage regulations.
*Managing relationships with external payroll providers and reviewing payroll outputs.
*Supporting payroll operations across international employee populations.
*Producing payroll journals, reconciliations, and month-end reporting.
*Providing payroll analysis and reporting to support budgeting and forecasting activities.
*Acting as the primary point of contact for payroll-related queries across the business.
*Identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls, and payroll efficiency.
*Supporting system enhancement projects and future payroll developments.
What We’re Looking For
The successful candidate will bring:
*Proven experience managing end-to-end payroll for a large employee population.
*Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and compliance requirements.
*Previous experience working with Sage 50 Payroll or a similar payroll system.
*Experience processing commission and variable pay structures.
*Strong reconciliation and payroll accounting experience.
*Advanced Excel skills, including lookups and pivot tables.
*Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.
*The ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders across HR, Finance, and the wider business.
*A proactive approach with a continuous improvement mindset.
Desirable Experience
*CIPP qualification or studies towards AAT, ACCA or CIMA.
*Exposure to international payrolls.
*Experience working with third-party payroll providers.
*Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Business Central.
*Involvement in payroll or HR system implementations.
What’s On Offer
*Hybrid working.
*25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
*Company pension scheme.
*Free parking.
*Employee Assistance Programme.
*Employee discounts and wellbeing benefits.
*Regular company events and recognition initiatives.
*The opportunity to join a growing organisation where your expertise can make a genuine impact.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Payroll professional seeking a broad and varied role with significant ownership, international exposure, and the chance to help shape the future of the payroll function.
