The Opportunity
An established engineering consultancy is seeking a motivated structural engineer to join its team in Edinburgh, working on a diverse portfolio of residential and commercial developments.
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to projects from concept through detailed design, collaborating with architects, contractors and other engineering professionals to deliver safe, efficient and practical structural solutions.
Key Responsibilities
*Undertake structural design and calculations for residential and commercial developments.
*Design reinforced concrete, structural steelwork, masonry and timber structures.
*Assess foundations and structural elements, considering ground conditions and project requirements.
*Prepare and review structural drawings, calculations, specifications and technical reports.
*Coordinate designs with architectural, civil and building services teams.
*Ensure compliance with relevant British Standards, Eurocodes and Scottish building regulations.
*Support site inspections, respond to technical queries and assist with construction-stage issues.
Experience and Qualifications
The successful structural engineer will ideally have:
*A degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
*Experience in structural design within a consultancy environment.
*Knowledge of residential and commercial building structures.
*Understanding of foundation design, load assessment and structural analysis.
*Familiarity with relevant design standards and building regulations.
*Experience with software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla Structural Designer, Autodesk Robot or equivalent.
Candidates should demonstrate sound engineering judgement, strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Both technical capability and a proactive approach to problem-solving are highly valued.
