Full job descriptionAssistant Management Accountant + Study package on your terms!
Birtle, Bury
£35,000 - £40,000
If you want to become a genuinely accomplished Management Accountant, the person you report into and the exposure they give you matters.
This role puts you directly alongside an ACA-qualified Head of Finance, as his number two, with access to areas of finance that many Assistant Management Accountants don’t get near until much further into their careers.
And you don’t need to have done it all before. That’s the point.
The business has an established transactional finance team, so you won’t be processing invoices, chasing debt or managing ledgers.
Your involvement starts at Trial Balance.
You’ll be working across management accounts, month-end reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and reporting to senior leadership.
It’s a pure management accounting position, with no transactional responsibilities taking up your time.
The Head of Finance is looking for someone who already has a good foundation in month-end accounting but wants considerably more exposure. He doesn’t expect you to arrive knowing everything he knows. He wants to teach you.
And that extends beyond preparing the numbers.
You’ll have access to senior leadership, be involved in discussions around business performance and, as your confidence develops, be trusted to lead finance meetings when the Head of Finance is away.
He wants someone capable of stepping into his shoes when needed, and he’s prepared to invest the time to get you there.
Study support on your terms.
The business offers full ACCA or CIMA study support, but there’s no pressure to qualify within a certain timeframe.
If you’re keen to get through your exams quickly, you’ll have the support to do that.
Equally, if you’d rather take a break from studying while you settle into a new role and develop your practical experience, that’s absolutely fine.
Your study arrangements will be built around what works for you, rather than a timetable dictated by the business.
Five days in the office.
This is an office-based position, working directly alongside the Head of Finance.
You’ll have daily access to someone who’s ACA qualified, highly experienced and actively wants to share that knowledge.
For someone looking to accelerate their practical management accounting experience, that’s a significant part of the appeal.
What they’re looking for.
You’ll already have some exposure to management accounts or month-end reporting, but there’s no expectation that you’ve covered everything independently.
What’s important is that you’re at the stage where you want to learn, take on more responsibility and develop your technical ability.
This isn’t a role where you’ll spend the next two years waiting for someone to give you more responsibility. The responsibility is there, and the Head of Finance will give you the training to take it on.
