Full job descriptionQuality Engineer
*Location: Beaconsfield
*Job Type: Full-time, permanent, on-site
*Salary: Competitive, based on experience
We are looking for a Quality Engineer to support inspection and quality assurance across prototype and low-volume manufacturing. This Quality Engineer role combines hands-on inspection and metrology with responsibility for non-conformance investigations, supplier and customer quality, and quality management system activities. The successful Quality Engineer will play an important part in ensuring parts meet drawing, specification and customer requirements before release.
Day-to-day of the role
*Carry out dimensional and visual inspection of prototype and low-volume parts, including machined, moulded, cast, sheet metal and 3D-printed components.
*Use a range of measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin and thread gauges, and where available CMM and 3D scanning systems.
*Verify parts against drawings, GD&T, specifications, tolerances and cosmetic standards, making clear release or quarantine decisions.
*Produce inspection documentation including measurement reports, first article inspection reports, certificates of conformity and other customer quality records where required.
*Maintain calibration records, coordinate internal and external calibration activity, and support impact assessments where equipment is found to be out of calibration.
*Support and improve the quality management system through document control, internal audits, CAPA tracking, KPI reporting and compliance with ISO 9001 and AS9100 requirements.
*Investigate internal, supplier and customer non-conformances using structured problem-solving tools such as 8D, 5 Why and Ishikawa, ensuring corrective actions are followed through to closure.
*Work closely with production, engineering, project management and sales, while also supporting supplier inspections, incoming inspection and customer quality queries or complaints.
Required Skills & Qualifications
*Experience inspecting parts within manufacturing, machining, additive manufacturing or a precision engineering environment.
*Confident using standard inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers and gauges, with the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
*Experience of structured problem solving and CAPA management, with a methodical and detail-focused approach.
*Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear reports for customers, suppliers and internal teams.
*Ability to work independently, make sound judgements on part acceptance and manage varied priorities in a fast-paced environment.
*Right to work in the UK.
*A technical qualification such as an apprenticeship, HNC, HND or engineering degree would be advantageous.
*Knowledge of GD&T, CMM or 3D scanning, ISO 9001, AS9100, FAIR documentation, PPAP or experience across processes such as CNC machining, injection moulding, vacuum casting or sheet metal would be beneficial.
Benefits
*Full-time, permanent position on day shifts.
*Training and development provided in key quality and inspection disciplines.
*Opportunity to work across a varied manufacturing environment including office, inspection and shop-floor settings.
*Clear progression routes into broader quality engineering, auditing and supplier quality positions.
*Occasional travel opportunities to customer and supplier sites in the UK and Europe.
