ACTIVE UK DEVELOPED VETTING (DV) SECURITY CLEARANCE ESSENTIAL
I’m working with a leading global technology organisation specialising in large-scale software platforms, distributed systems, advanced data engineering and AI-driven infrastructure.
We’re looking to recruit 3 talented Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) to design, build, automate and maintain highly scalable, secure and mission-critical production environments supporting UK Government and national security programmes.
These positions offer an excellent opportunity for software-focused infrastructure engineers who enjoy solving complex engineering problems, writing production-quality code and taking ownership of sophisticated technical environments.
THE TECHNOLOGY STACKWe’re particularly interested in engineers with experience across several of the following technologies:
Software Engineering & Programming
*Python, Java, Go (Golang) or JavaScript
*Bash scripting and automation
*Production-level software development
*Debugging, performance optimisation and troubleshooting
*Software engineering principles and distributed systems architecture
Cloud, Containers & Infrastructure
*Kubernetes and Docker
*Container orchestration and management
*Linux-based production environments
*AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
*Cloud infrastructure engineering
*High-availability and fault-tolerant architectures
*Load balancing, scalability and configuration management
DevOps, Automation & Reliability Engineering
*Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
*Terraform and Ansible
*CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
*Monitoring, alerting and observability
*Production incident management and root-cause analysis
*Infrastructure upgrades and platform migrations
*System reliability, performance and operational efficiency
AI & Advanced Engineering
*Large Language Models (LLMs)
*AI-assisted engineering and automation
*Large-scale data platforms
*Automated deployment and infrastructure management
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOINGYou’ll work within a highly technical engineering environment, taking responsibility for the reliability, performance and scalability of critical production infrastructure.
Your responsibilities will include:
*Designing, developing and maintaining scalable, highly available production services.
*Writing production-quality software to automate infrastructure operations and improve system reliability.
*Deploying and managing containerised applications using Kubernetes and Docker.
*Engineering solutions to complex infrastructure and distributed systems challenges.
*Developing automation to eliminate repetitive operational tasks.
*Managing monitoring, alerting, configuration management and production upgrades.
*Supporting software deployments, infrastructure migrations and platform enhancements.
*Investigating and resolving complex production incidents.
*Collaborating with software engineering, infrastructure and product development teams.
*Supporting an on-call engineering rotation approximately once every 5–6 weeks.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FORIdeally, you’ll have 1–5 years of commercial experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering or a closely related software engineering discipline.
You’ll need:
Strong software engineering fundamentals and the ability to write production-level code.
Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker and containerised production environments.
Experience building, maintaining and supporting large-scale infrastructure or distributed systems.
Proficiency in at least one of Python, Java, Go or JavaScript.
Strong Linux, troubleshooting and systems engineering capabilities.
Experience improving system reliability through automation and engineering best practices.
A Computer Science, Software Engineering or related degree.
Experience working within defence technology, government, national security or similarly complex technical environments would be particularly attractive.
Knowledge of Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD and cloud infrastructure would also be advantageous.
Important: These are genuine engineering positions rather than traditional IT Operations roles. We’re particularly interested in candidates who combine strong software development capabilities with hands-on infrastructure and production engineering experience.

*Additional Compensation: Restricted Stock Units (RSUs)
*Location: London
*Working Pattern: Hybrid, with typically 1–2 days working from home per week, subject to secure-site requirements
*Relocation Assistance: Available
*Positions: 3 permanent opportunities
WHY CONSIDER THIS OPPORTUNITY?You’ll be joining an internationally recognised technology organisation working on some of the most technically challenging and important software infrastructure programmes in the UK.
Expect genuine engineering ownership, exposure to advanced cloud-native technologies, complex distributed systems, AI-driven tooling and the opportunity to influence the architecture and reliability of critical platforms.
