Full job description*Group Credit Controller
*Permanent, full-time
*Up to £45k, own the group credit policy
Group Credit Controller
This is a chance to own credit control for a whole group, not just a single ledger. You will look after customers across multiple countries and currencies, with a real say over credit limits, terms and how the business protects its cash. The business is growing quickly, and the role has genuine scope to grow with it.
You are an experienced credit controller who is as comfortable making a judgement call on a credit limit as you are picking up the phone to chase an invoice. You know when to flex for a good customer and when to raise the alarm. You like working closely with sales teams, and you want to improve the numbers, not just report on them.
What You Will Be Doing
*Owning credit risk and collections across an international customer base, prioritising by value, age and risk so your time goes where it counts
*Driving debtor days and overdue debt down with clear targets and actions, rather than just reporting where they sit
*Assessing new and existing customers using credit reference data, trade references, payment history and management accounts, and forming a clear, evidenced view of the risk
*Making and recommending credit limits and terms, flexing pragmatically when there is a genuine commercial case
*Acting as a trusted adviser to sales leaders and sales operations, including calls on whether to release or hold orders for customers who are over limit
*Managing the credit insurance policies, from limit applications and maximising cover to being the main contact for brokers and insurers
*Running customer rebates from start to finish: recording agreements, then calculating, accruing and settling them accurately
*Resolving deductions, disputes and under or over payments, and working with sales and operations to fix the root cause rather than the symptom
*Producing the customer receipts forecast for each entity, preparing bad and doubtful debt provisions and delivering KPI reporting with clear commentary for non-finance readers
*Writing and maintaining the group credit policy, leading automation of credit and AR processes, and supporting month end, reconciliations and audit on the receivables side
What We Need From You
*Someone with solid, hands-on credit control experience who has done the whole job: risk assessment, collections and dispute resolution, not just chasing overdue invoices
*A person with good commercial judgement who is confident enough to flex a limit when it is justified and to escalate when it is not
*Someone who has managed credit across international markets, with multi-currency ledgers and differing payment practices, and who adapts their approach to local context
*A track record of bringing debtor days and overdue debt down that you can talk through with real numbers
*Comfortable with credit reference agencies and reading customer management accounts and financial statements to judge whether a customer is a safe bet
*Experience of credit insurance (limits, claims, renewals), and ideally some exposure to managing rebates or similar commercial agreements
*Advanced Excel, experience of an ERP system and a genuine curiosity about how automation and AI tools could improve credit and AR processes
*A confident communicator who can advise and influence at every level, firm when it is needed and warm with it, because customers expect a premium experience
What’s in it for you
*A salary of up to £45,000 per annum
*A permanent, full-time role in a business that is growing fast
*Real ownership: you will shape the group credit policy rather than inherit someone else’s
*Genuine scope to grow as the group develops
*A varied customer base across several markets and time zones, so no two days look the same
*Close working relationships with regional sales leaders rather than being tucked away in the corner of the finance team
*The chance to lead the automation and improvement of credit and AR processes
If this sounds like the credit control role you have been looking for and you tick most of these boxes, we would love to hear from you.
