This job is a split role. 0.5 FTE CIAG advisor and 0.5 FTE Employer engagement lead. Therefore, we are looking for an enthusiastic and confident Career Information Advice and Guidance (CIAG) Adviser to support offenders in custody as they prepare for work on release. Alongside this, we are looking for an Employer Engagement Lead, who can provide links to employers and work in partnership with stakeholders to create events and activities for offenders in custody to help them prepare for work on release.
The job involves working with people serving custodial sentences, to engage them in learning, training and employment opportunities, so they’re ready to start a new life on release and break the cycle of reoffending. It also involves networking with employers and organising employment events and activities that are linked to local and nationwide employment opportunities across a number of prison sites within the East Midlands.
There will be some travel to other sites in the East Midlands area occasionally.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to people and communities.
You’ll need to be:
* confident and proactive
* a good communicator with a non-judgemental approach
* comfortable working on databases and have a strong attention to detail
You’ll need to have :
* A minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with employers in the context of seeking opportunities for people facing multiple barriers
* Excellent communication and presentation skills both verbal and written
We are especially looking for applicants who have experience of helping offenders or other vulnerable groups to move forward in their lives. If you’re someone who can really connect with people to help them to progress, work in a prison environment, embrace the quality and compliance requirements of the contract and have the skills to work towards individual targets, we’d love to hear from you.
We’ll give you all the training you need to do the job and to get established in the new role. Our teams are always supportive and friendly towards new starters, to help them to settle into the job. We are particularly interested in applicants who hold a Level 4 or above in IAG or willing to work towards the qualification.
The contract requires a 37.5h working week and we also offer flexitime, so when we ask our staff to do extra, we always make sure they’ve got those hours to take back another time. It’s a great benefit of working for Career Connect.
