We’re supporting a well-established FMCG manufacturer with an immediate requirement for a Procurement Manager to join its Direct Procurement Team on an initial 6-month fixed-term contract.
Hybrid working with 3 days on site working in Leeds area.
The Opportunity
The Procurement Manager is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys getting into the detail. You’ll take ownership of a focused portfolio of direct materials suppliers, helping the business navigate pricing volatility, strengthen supplier management and bring greater discipline to commercial data and category management.
You’ll be responsible for:
*Managing a portfolio of packaging and/or ingredients suppliers
*Developing and implementing category and sourcing strategies
*Leading supplier negotiations and supporting inflation mitigation, cost optimisation and supply continuity
*Focusing upon more structured supplier relationship/performance management
*Managing price changes and ensuring commercial data is accurate across SAP and associated systems
*Tackling pricing discrepancies, invoice queries and forecasting/data issues
*Identifying opportunities to improve value, service and supply resilience
About You
The Procurement Manager will be commercially sharp, analytical and comfortable in rolling their sleeves up.
Ideally, you’ll bring:
*Procurement/category management experience across packaging, ingredients or other direct materials
*Experience within FMCG or a similar fast-paced manufacturing environment
*Strong supplier negotiation and relationship-management skills
*Confidence working with SAP, Excel and commercial data
*Strong numerical skills and excellent attention to detail
*The ability to work proactively, challenge where required and quickly get to grips with a new category
If you are a strong, commercially minded procurement professional with the right direct-materials exposure, systems’ capability and attitude, please get in touch. This role would be equally suited to a Buyer or Senior Buyer with the relevant sector/category experience and an analytical approach!
