Job Description:
This firm’s financial regulation team is one of largest in the UK with a mix of lawyers and compliance professionals split over Leeds, London, and Scotland.
They are currently expanding and are seeking an Associate to join their team based in the London office.
The Team
* The team advises on the full range of issues affecting financial services clients including Financial Services and Markets Act (FSMA), Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) and Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) rules.
* The team also advises on the SMCR, conduct matters, bank prudential matters and on various issues around financial and operational stability, high level regulatory engagement, as well as supporting transactional, banking and funds structuring work.
The Role
* You will work closely with the whole sale and financial markets Partners to help grow the work and profile of this part of our practice.
* You will ideally already have a good grounding and knowledge of the financial regulation of wholesale markets, conduct issues, investments and financial instruments, brokers, funds, platforms, and exchanges
* Had exposure to products targeted to the top tier of retail customers as well as other market products.
* You will handle your own matters (with supervision) and assist the Partners and work with other Managing Associates and Associates on more complex matters, delivering high quality work to clients as well as helping to win new work
Any successful applicant will need the following skills and competencies:
* You will have at least 3 years experience in a financial regulation team, post qualification.
* Most importantly, you should have a real and genuine interest in this area and be keen to grow that knowledge in a proactive way.
* You should be adept at in building strong client relationships, but also like working in a team.
* The ideal candidate should have a keen intellect and a commercial mindset. You will be able to demonstrate that you are able to provide pragmatic and tailored advice in a way that supports internal and external clients alike.
* The ability to actively support complex transactions, liaising and coordinating with fee earners from other relevant disciplines as needed
