We are seeking an experienced Environmental & Sustainability Manager to lead the charge in developing and implementing cutting-edge environmental and sustainability frameworks that will shape the future for our Engineering client!
As the Environmental & Sustainability Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving the commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainability.
This role is perfect for an experienced environmental manager who is passionate about making a tangible difference in the world one action at a time!
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
* Develop and continuously improve environmental management systems to minimize our organization’s impact on the environment.
* Lead sustainable procurement efforts for all goods and services, ensuring alignment with our environmental objectives.
* Coordinate pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation, and renewable energy initiatives.
* Implement and uphold environmental policies and practices, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation.
* Maintain proactive communication with local authorities, public bodies, and regulatory agencies.
* Conduct thorough environmental audits, analyse performance, and report findings to internal and external stakeholders.
* Take immediate action in the event of environmental spills, conducting thorough investigations and implementing preventive measures.
* Drive positive change in our business practices to minimize our environmental footprint and maximize sustainability efforts.
* Make a real difference to the way in which our business impacts the world around us!
Personal Behaviours, Skills & Experience:
* Genuine passion for the environment and sustainability and believe in the difference a company can make.
* Demonstrable experience managing an environmental function or similar relevant field.
* Ability to promote environmental awareness and influence internal and external stakeholders.
* Strong attention to detail for compiling accurate statistics and writing factual environmental reports.
* Commercial awareness and understanding of commercial responsibilities.
* Ability to set sustainability targets, develop plans, and oversee their delivery through effective project management.
* Previous team management experience preferred but not essential.
* Formal Qualifications such as Degree/ Diploma in environmental management or similar advantageous.
* Membership of IEMA or CIWEM beneficial.
* Extensive knowledge of ISO14001.
* Full UK driving license required; occasional overnight stays may be necessary.

Summary

Location: Hybrid/ Site based with reporting to Middlesbrough office
Duration: Permanent
Benefits: £50,000 - £55,000 + 20% Bonus + Hybrid/ Fully Electric Car + Other benefits
Hours: Full-Time Monday - Friday
