Job Description:
Software Engineer – Financial Services 

Overview:
An Exciting opportunity has arisen with one of the UK’s largest Life Insurance brokers to join as a Software Engineer.  The successful candidate will join the Development team and work on extensive new tech to assist with an Azure migration. The business is currently experiencing significant growth and the functions supporting the CRM require hard-working and ambitious personnel to join and support the processes.  You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative products that solve complex problems and drive business growth.

Role & Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
* Design, develop, and test software solutions using cutting-edge technologies and best practices.
* Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code that meets coding standards and contributes to the overall success of the project.
* Troubleshoot and debug issues in existing software applications, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
* Developing new solutions and systems as required by the business.
* Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, continuously enhancing your skills and knowledge.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and methodologies, driving efficiency and innovation across the organisation.
* Maintain and update existing internal and external systems.

Essential Skills & Experience:
* Software development using the LEMP stack (PHP 7+)
* Strong knowledge of JavaScript
* At least 1-2 years’ experience using MVC frameworks (CakePHP / Laravel / Lumen)
* Good understanding of OOP principles
* Version control systems GIT (Github / Gitlab)
* Worked on medium to large datasets (MySQL / Redis)
* A desire to learn new skills and technologies
* Ability to work well under pressure and to deadlines
* Excellent problem solving skills and good attention to detail
* Strong written and verbal communication skills

Package:
* £45-50K basic salary
* Hybrid working – 3 days in the office
