Job Description:
Sovereign Network Group is a charitable organisation dedicated to making a positive impact. We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Service Charge Accountant to join our Finance team.
You’ll be based from our Wembley office, with the flexibility to combine home and office working 2 days per week
About the Role
Reporting to the Service Charge Accountant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and transparency of service charge reconciliations. Your work will contribute to improving service charge processes and compliance with statutory requirements, including the Building Safety Act 2022.
Key Responsibilities
*Complete timely service charge reconciliations and resolve discrepancies with stakeholders.
*Assist in the annual final accounts certification process and service charge estimate exercise.
*Maintain and improve the service charge coding structure.
*Support the reconciliation and maintenance of reserve funds.
*Assist with preparing and posting journals.
*Ensure compliance with service charge regulations, including the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985.
*Contribute to service charge reviews and transparency initiatives.
What we’re looking for
You’ll have sound knowledge and experience working with and understanding invoices, with proven ability to read, interpret and recognise anomalies within data. You’ll also have:
*Significant experience using Excel, including intermediate formula-building skills.
*Part-qualified accountant or qualified by experience
*Knowledge of service charge regulations or experience in a highly regulated sector.
*Proficiency in financial accounting systems
*Strong data analysis skills and attention to detail.
*Excellent communications and decision making skills, with the confidence to question where needed
